Varsity

The Providence Varsity Boys opened the 2010 season at home vs. Corydon.  The Pioneers came out firing and scored at the 30 min mark on a long low shot by sophomore midfielder Pierce Crawley.  At the 13 minute mark the Pioneers notch their second goal when Senior Wade Brown beat the defender to the ball and slid the ball into the goal.  Two minutes later left midfielder Daniel Wilburn found himself alone on the left side of the goal and drilled his shot past the keeper into the left side netting to make the score 3-0.  The goal was assisted by Max Neace.  PHS scored their fourth goal of the half when Pierce Crawley drove a direct kick past the keeper from 25 yards out.  The halftime score was 4-0.

The second half scoring starting 3 minutes into the half when Wade Brown’s short corner was driven to the near post by Josh Maled.  Andrew Wimp took pass from Wade Brown and drove it past the Corydon keeper at the 29 minute mark to make the score 6-0.  The defense got in on the action with 17 minutes left in the game when Wade Brown got his third assist in a row when he played the ball to Jonathan Rogers who’s well placed shot found the back of the net.  The defense got on the board again when Grant Vance’s corner kick connected with Bret Bass’s header to make the final score 8-0.
