Varsity vs. Floyd Central

The Providence Varsity Boys meet their rival, the Floyd Central Highlanders, on Tuesday August 24 at Providence High School.  FC can out sharp and intense and the Pioneers failed to match the intensity of the Highlanders.  FC applied constant defensive pressure to the PHS attack and the Pioneers had problems possessing the ball.  FC got on the board at the 18 minute mark when a defensives lapse left the FC attacker one on one with Senior Keeper Taylor Hamblin.  Taylor clipped a piece of the FC player going for the ball and a PK was awarded and made by FC.  Ten minutes later FC got their second goal when a lose ball was placed into the left side of the goal by the FC attack.  With just over a minute left in the half the Highlanders notched their third goal to make the half time score 3 – 0.  The Pioneers did not get off a single shot for the half.

 

After an intense consult with coach Rogers at half time the Pioneers played with a bit more intensity in the second half.  PHS did manage 3 shots of goal for the half but conceded 11 to Floyd Central.  PHS dropped to 1-2-0.  Next Game – Jennings Co.
