Hoosier Cup Tournament ResultsVarsity vs. Richmond Lost 3-1
The Providence Varsity Boys traveled to Bloomington and faced Richmond in the first round of the Hoosier Cup Friday 9/3. At the 6 minute mark Richmond was awarded a questionable PK on a foul at the edge of the box. Senior Keeper Taylor Hamblin made a diving save to his left to stop the Richmond PK and to keep the score tied. Less then a minute later a Richmond throw in from the right side over the PHS defense resulted in goal. Richmond controlled the ball with good passing and runs on the ball. This resulted in their second goal 10 minutes later when a strong cross from the right hand side was deflected into the goal by a Pioneer defender as he tried to clear the ball off the line. The half time score was 2-0.
PHS came out and played with more intensity in the second half but still conceded their third goal at the 30 minute on a breakaway down the right side. PHS notched their only goal of the evening at the 37 minute mark when a Grant Vance corner was knocked around and then finished off by Max Neace into the left side of the goal. The Pioneers dropped to 1-3-1
