Pioneers always know it will be an exciting, well attended
rivalry when Floyd Central is their opponent. This year was
no different as everyone knew Floyd Central wanted a little
revenge after loosing to PHS on their own field last season
in the sectionals. PHS wasn't having any of that, knowing
that this was their BIG BLUE HOUSE to protect.
The first half was a defensive struggle until Kasey Wallace trapped a ball very close to FC's goalline and centered a long ball that curled into the goal over the goalie's fingertips at the 35 minute mark for a 1 to 0 halftime lead. The second half belonged to PHS as they scored at the 20 minute mark on a beautiful 30 yard shot from Kasey Wallace, and at the 36 minute mark on a nice breakaway and shot from Casey Marlin. FC finally got on the board with a mere 2 minutes to go to make the final score 3-1. Providence has now won 3 in a row and 4 of the last 5 games against Floyd Central. Next up for PHS is Presentation Acadamy this coming Thursday evening at 6:00. Story submitted by Jerry Duncan
