Providence v.s. Forest ParkAugust 23, 2011 at ProvidenceProvidence 5 - Forest Park 0 The Providence girls soccer team hosted the Forest Park Rangers Tuesday evening, and came away with a 5 to 0 victory. Casey Marlin opened the scoring for PHS just 2 minutes into the contest with a rebound tap-in of her own shot off the goalie. Just 5 minutes later, center-mid Erin Duncan of PHS fed a perfectly timed through ball to Casey Marlin in the box for an easy score. At the 15 minute mark Casey Marlin slid a ball across the box to the far post where freshman Alyssa Jones was waiting for a well placed ball just behind the goalie. PHS finished its first half scoring at the 37 minute mark with a tricky side step and a powerful turning shot from Casey Marlin for her 3rd goal of the half and her 3rd game out of 5 with at least a hat-trick (3 goals). PHS went to the half up 4 to 0. The second half was more of a defensive battle except for a nice shot from the 18 yard line from Erin Duncan after a nice dribble carry. Coach Smith subbed very liberally most of the second half to get his young players some more confidence before a very tough away game this coming Saturday at Mercy Academy of Louisville. After 5 games the only scores this Pioneer team has given up have been 2 goals on penalty kicks. This defense is proudly known as the "Brick Force" and continues to set up this very balanced team for success.
