2011 Girls Jamboree
The Providence girl's soccer team
played a 20 minute scrimmage against the North Harrison girls
Saturday afternoon in the Providence Jamboree. Providence
controlled the tempo from the start, only allowing North
Harrison to cross the midfield for a brief second one time. PHS
had numerous opportunities to score but had their shots go a
little above the cross-bar on at least a half dozen occasions.
However, they did get 8 shots "on-goal" and scored on 4 of
those.
PHS recorded 3 assists, one by senior Casey Marlin, one by sophomore Katelyn Koopman, and another by freshman Alyssa Jones. Casey Marlin, the all-time leading scorer in PHS history, scored a goal, and the other 3 goals were added by freshmen: 1 goal by Alyssa Jones and 2 goals by Sarah Posante. PHS has returned the majority
of their sectional winning team from last year, but they have
really been excited about the influx of talent in their freshmen
class. They open the season against Bullitt East this coming
Monday, August 15th, and then follow that up with their opening
home game against Corydon on Wednesday, August 17th. Evening News and Tribune Story
