Welcome to Pioneer Soccer

The Providence Pioneers hosted the Jeffersonville Red Devils Thursday evening while celebrating their outgoing seniors. The Pioneers started out controlling the game with precision passing and great spacing. It took 13 minutes before center-mid, Erin Duncan, found the net from out near the top of the box. From that point on PHS rolled to 3 more goals before halftime. Senior Lauren Holland served up a beautiful ball to Freshman Sara Posonte who caught the ball mid-flight with her knee knocking it into the goal.

At the 19 minute mark, Senior Casey Marlin slipped a ball into the goal with her back to the goalie using a little fancy back roll off her foot. To finish off the half, senior member of the infamous "Brick Force" , Kelsey Rogers, carried the ball upfield through several defenders and then delivered a rocket of a shot that would make any striker proud at the 37 minute mark.

After an emotional half-time ceremony celebrating the 7 departing seniors, Providence got back their focus in a hurry. 2 minutes in, Erin Duncan pounded a ball from  about 25 yards out that may havetaken the goalie by surprise. A few minutes later, senior Allie Gillenwater (Gator) received a nice pass from Leah Mattingly  and worked her way up to the goalie before slipping a shot past at the 15 minute mark.

To end the scoring, Rachel Wells launched a 30 yard blast  19 minutes into the second half for the final score of 7 to 0. Coach Smith of Providence then pulled many of his starters and got some valuable playing time for many of the other players. PHS brought their season record to 13-0-2, with a possible undefeated season on the line this Sat at Seymour.
